Back...

It was 30 odd years since I packed up all my Warhammer into a box and stuffed it all into a forgotten cupboard.

As a teenager in the early 90's all of a sudden my little lead figures and the people I saw who still 'played' with them held no interest for me anymore.

Over the years I sometimes walked past a GW store and casually looked in the window thinking to myself "shall I go in" but never did.

Then lock down happened, and looking for some games to play with my son (8 at the time)  who was into Yugioh and Pokemon card games, I brought a copy of Underworlds, and the itch was scratched.

I pulled out all the boxes of figures and started off selling them, but as each box opened I sold less and then started to buy the odd bit (new and old) and began modeling again.

My son is now into the new AOS figures and games, but for me what I now know as 'Oldhammer' is where my heart lies mostly. His Hobgrots (!?!) and Stormcasts, won't know what hit them when my OG Chaos boys and Orcs and Gobbo's enter the field.

While I still plan to sell a lot of my old stuff, there is a pile of lead that never got painted or properly used the first time around, as well as plenty of lead that got badly destroyed, bent and cut that needs fixing.

This blog is going to be dedicated to my quest to actually finish building and painting an army (or two) have an actual game (I never really did the first time round) and discover what the Warhammer scene is like in the modern era.

I don't care much for specific rules and individual manufacturers anymore and if I want to mix and match things and make it up as I go, I will.

Fantasy worlds should by their very nature be open and free, the storytelling and creativity got me hooked all those years ago and it's why I am now 'back from the lead'.
